Papers per Faculty evaluates the productivity of research institutions and used in our University Rankings by Region (Arab Region, Latin America, Asia, Emerging Europe & Central Asia).
Papers are processed within our regular procedures.
Part of the intention behind the deeper regional exercises is to evaluate a larger number of institutions – not only those contributing globally, but those who are important regionally, nationally and within their local communities – where publishing in English is not a pre-requisite in the same way. With this regard, Papers per Faculty indicator that doesn't look at performance of the papers, serves to be more rewarding to institutions that may publish a significant proportion of their research in languages other than English (Scopus accepts non-English content as long as there are English language abstracts).
At the same time, we continue to balance this research productivity metrics with research impact indicator (Citations per Paper).
